Screenplay Editing Services Available
So you already have a screenplay. Well done! But for whatever reason, you feel it needs some work, some help to move it up to the next level.
Well, my screenplay editing services are available to help you improve your film script!
Now, what exactly does “screenplay editing” mean? And how exactly would it help you?
Screenplay editing means correcting anything that needs correcting in your script and bringing it to a higher level of quality. Ideally to the level where it is ready for the market.
Now, one thing you should know, is that most screenplays kind of suck. Yes, that sounds really negative and downright depressing. I apologize. Let me explain what I mean.
Another way you could say “most screenplays kind of suck,” is simply that “they are not at the standard that Hollywood would accept.”
You have to understand that Hollywood standards are very high. And if you want a truly marketable screenplay that’s truly ready for Hollywood, it has to achieve a very high level of quality. And that’s not easy.
You may think that your script requires just a little tidying up here and there, but – trust me – if you're aiming high (and why shouldn't you?), chances are it may need even more than that.
Please understand that I’m not meaning to bash any screenwriters out there. My own screenplays sucked (meaning were not good enough for Hollywood) for a long time when I started writing. I mean, just not good enough. It was only after writing and rewriting and rewriting for years and years and years and getting lots of feedback on my writing, that I really started to get the hang of it and produce something halfway decent.
Here are some examples of common problems with a screenplay:

Here are some examples of common problems with a screenplay:
- Poor format;
- Excessive dialogue;
- Characters explaining the story – instead of showing this in action;
- Characters all sounding the same;
- A flat or unlikeable protagonist who the audience never really “warms up” to;
- The screenwriter tries to include too many things in the script, resulting in it becoming overly-complicated;
- The script has clichéd elements and/or is too similar to a well-known film/s;
- There’s lots of action, lots happening, but for no apparent reason. No goal or focus.
How do my screenplay editing services work? What’s the process?
The first thing we’ll do is an initial contact, usually by email. Usually I’ll send you a writing sample. Following this we’ll do a free session (phone call). In this session we can talk and get to know each other and you can tell me the story you have and any problems you’re running into. During the session I’ll give any advice or tips that I think can improve your script.
If all goes well, meaning you like me and I like you and your story, the next step will be to send me your script so I can read it and provide detailed feedback about what is working and what is not working, as well as my vision/plan for editing. This will be a limited initial engagement for a reduced fee.
My feedback and plan would include comments about various aspects of the script, such as:
If you liked that feedback and plan, we would move forward with a full engagement for editing your script.
I hope that gives you a good idea of what you would get by using my services for editing your screenplay. If you have any questions or would like to get in contact with me, then simply fill out the form on this page.
Thanks for reading and all the best with your screenplay!
